Dr. Elisabeth Hager, Chairman and CEO
Dr. Elisabeth Hager is a board-certified neuropsychiatrist with a Master’s Degree in Medical Management from Tulane University. Dr. Hager served as Board Chairman and acting CEO of the Rochester Community Individual Practice Association, a 2700 physician independent practice association. Dr. Hager also served as President of the Monroe County Medical Society. Her successes as an entrepreneur includes founding Adroit Research Solutions, Inc, a global clinical trials management organization. Prior to founding Balan Biomedical, Inc., Dr Hager served as CEO of GentCorp Ltd., where she was responsible for building an innovation laboratory for Mr. Wilson Greatbatch, inventor of the first successfully implanted cardiac pacemaker.

Michael Pyszczek, Vice President, Technology
Mr. Pyszczek holds a B.A. degree in Chemistry and an M.S. degree in business management. Michael has been granted 12 US patents and has published over 20 papers in the fields of electrochemistry and power source design. Michael has served the corporate research and development departments of Honeywell, Inc. and Greatbatch, Inc. He has also held leadership positions in product development, engineering, and chemical operations. Prior to co-founding Balan Biomedical, Michael served as Director of Power Source Development for GentCorp Ltd.

Peter Charron, Operations and Technology
Peter Charron holds a B.S. in Pharmacy and has extensive experience with multiple areas of healthcare including hospital, homecare and retail-based services. He brings over ten years of experience in process analysis, project planning and management, operations and product development to the Balan team. Throughout his career, he has applied a comprehensive approach to the analysis, development, implementation and management of the people, processes and technology that comprise successful systems. Prior to joining Balan Peter was serving as a process consultant for several healthcare companies assisting in their operational and technology development plans. Peter was also responsible for the design and development of a prescription management system for physician practices.

Michael J. Bakos, Network Manager
Mr. Bakos holds a B.S. degree in Management and an A.A.S. degree in Electronic Technology. Michael has over 30 years of diverse management experience in the biomedical industry. His broad experience includes project management as well as the management of technical support groups, calibration systems, corporate events, communications, and community relations. Prior to joining Balan Biomedical, Michael served as Manager of Communications and Community Relations for Greatbatch, Inc.

Kenneth C. Syracuse, Ph.D., Statistical Analytics
Dr. Syracuse holds M.S. degrees in Theoretical Statistics and Electro-mechanical Engineering, with a Doctor of Science in Mathematics. He has spent the better part of the last 25 years in medical research and development, beginning as the associate statistician on the leukemia inter-group studies at Roswell Park Memorial Institute, and later as a senior R&D scientist for Greatbatch Inc. In addition, he has been awarded several patents and has authored publications in medical and engineering journals. Ken’s areas of expertise include mathematical modeling of electro-chemical, mechanical, and physical systems, and he also teaches courses in cardiology, and medical device interface and technology.

Christopher R. Feger Ph.D. Biomedical Systems and Materials
Dr. Feger has earned a BS degree in chemistry from MIT and a Ph.D. from Ohio State University. Following his post-doctoral fellowship at Clemson University, he joined the research staff at St Jude Medical. Serving as Principal Scientist, Chris was involved in various projects utilizing his skills in project management, and process and quality system development. He has published several papers in the field of solid state materials and has been awarded eleven patents.

Steven J. Ebel, Business Development
Steven has over twenty-five years of experience in the medical device and technology fields holding senior positions in product development, marketing and general management of Greatbatch’s core business as well as heading the program management office and supply chain functions of Kyphon, a spine therapy company acquired by Medtronic. He holds seven issued patents and has been an innovator in systemic approaches to product development, program management and commercialization. His formal education is in chemistry and chemical engineering with executive training in management and strategic marketing at the Wharton School and Penn State
