Balan Discovers Previously Unknown Application for an Existing Product Line

Balan investigated innovated uses for an existing over the counter nasal strip. Balan determined that there was a large potential market for a pediatric version of the nasal strip. There are currently 1.5 million children who have the diagnosis of Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Over 60% of parents refuse surgical treatment and the others prefer non-surgical, symptomatic treatment options; this suggests in approximately 1 million children would benefit from ongoing nightly use. The clinical benefits of a pediatric version include a break in the sleep deprivation, fatigue, obesity cycle; improvement in school performance; and long-term improvement in cognitive development and behavior. The financial benefits to our client: a million new reliable customers as an immediate product extension.
