Balan Links Donation to the International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders (IFFGD) to Company’s Latest Research Study

Dr. Elisabeth Hager, Chairman and CEO of Balan Biomedical, Inc. announced that a donation has been made to the International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders (IFFGD) in conjunction with the company’s latest research study regarding Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). “We are quite pleased that our Open-Innovation business-model allows us to support a Pay-It-Forward program where the company can donate funds to foundations consistent with the research studies we perform,” says Dr. Hager. “It’s our way of providing fuel for future research.”

“At Balan, we believe in Open-Innovation - a belief that a key source of new knowledge exists with the end-users - medical professionals and patients,” explains Dr. Hager. Open-innovation, the cornerstone of Balan’s business model is an integral component of the company’s culture. Balan is dedicated to bringing critical insights of medical/veterinary professionals and patients to new product development in medical devices and consumer health products – via an extensive network of medical/veterinary professionals and patients. “By understanding what happens today, we can work to identify resources that can facilitate the care of patients while promoting medical practice and the relationship between medical professionals and their patients,” explains Balan’s CEO.

The Pay-It-Forward program was developed as a means to thank Balan’s Network of Medical Professionals and Patients for their participation in research studies and surveys. “The Pay-It-Forward program coupled with Balan’s Open-Innovation business model is a Win-Win for everyone involved,” says Dr. Hager. “Balan is able to provide its clients with a unique research component – the voice of the end-user, our customers gain valuable insight to be used in their product development cycle, our network members are provided with a conduit to the manufacturers in which they can make their voice heard, and research foundations are provided with fuel for future research programs.” Other organizations that have benefited from Balan’s Pay-It-Forward program are: the Alzheimer's Association, the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, the American Veterinary Medical Foundation, and the National Osteoporosis Foundation.
