Balan Biomedical provides Medical Device and Consumer Health companies with information from academic and practical sources not normally available to their decision process. These companies use this information to develop new products, modify old products to work better or to introduce an existing product into a market where there is an unmet need.

The key to better product design is getting end user feedback early and often. Balan gathers information from medical professionals such as you as well as patients and health care consumers. This provides reliable, real time answers to key questions posed by medical device and product manufacturers such as: What are people’s needs? What could be done better? How could our products be improved?

The Balan Medical Professional Network is comprised of health care providers representing every aspect of the industry, from physicians to radiology technicians and dentists to chiropractors. The network provides unbiased information derived from your experience, opinions to questions and concepts. Currently the Network consists of over 2,000 members doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, lab technicians, and many others—across all therapeutic areas providing real time responses to a range of questions. This capability brings the end user or referring medical professional to the front of the new product decision process.

Everyone who works with medical devices or equipment knows of some little, or not so little, thing that would improve the way a product works or how some small change would improve the quality of patient care. Any one person’s voice can be overlooked, however Balan provides a way to add your voice to hundreds of others and have them heard by Balan’s industry partners.

What is expected of a network member?
Network members can expect to receive a limited number of communications by email each month. These consist of questions about medical devices or products and a request for the member to reply with their opinion.

On occasion biomedical device and product companies find themselves at pivotal decision points in their development processes. The nature of a new product can often go down one of several paths. Balan is called upon at this juncture to provide biomedical companies with the information they need to make the right decisions necessary to result in a product that best serves the clinical and therapeutic needs of the intended population. Often, due to the constraints of the business environment, this information is needed quickly. Members of the Balan Rapid Response network are in a position to provide this valuable input. Rapid Response members are contacted by email and by phone to give their opinion on one or two key questions related to your area of expertise.

How do I benefit?
Beyond the opportunity to get your opinions heard by biomedical device and product designers, membership provides access to specialty content on the Balan Biomedical site. These informative pages are designed with features to engage and inform. Balan has several such pages tailored to individual interest groups i.e. General Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Dentistry, Medical Imaging etc. These pages also act as portals to further content such as: surveys, Web Tools and biomedical device and product reviews. 

Do I have to give out personal information, what about privacy?
Balan does not ask for personal information beyond an email address, or phone number in the case of the Rapid Response Program, and some basic questions regarding the member’s profession and location, which is used to customize your access to member content. Balan does not allow external access to Network members and employs systems to insure requests for opinions are spread evenly over the membership so no single group is overwhelmed.
